Dr Bremen Yong has been appointed chief sustainability officer, based in South East Asia and reporting to the group’s managing director and the president director of REA Kaltim effective February 2024.

Building on the work of previous incumbents, Bremen will help to drive the group’s ESG strategy, implementing customer-centric sustainability initiatives and supporting the executive team. In this enhanced role, Bremen aims to push forward the group’s ESG objectives by building group-wide targets, the 2030 roadmap and implementation framework, thus furthering the group’s commitment to achieve net zero by 2050 and its ambition to be a leading sustainable producer of palm oil and palm oil products.

Bremen brings over 12 years’ experience and a proven track record in the field of sustainability. Previously, he worked for the Apical Group, a vegetable oil processor, where he led its sustainability journey to become one of the leaders in this arena. In addition to being head of sustainability for a Singapore listed oil palm producer, Bremen has also been head of certification at, and fulfilled other roles for, the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). He continues to be actively involved in multi-stakeholder working groups and sustainability forums. Bremen’s insight into the palm oil value chain brings practical balance to the group’s sustainability and commercial objectives.
