First high school conservation education camp

As part of REA KON’s community engagement programme, children from both the plantation and village primary schools are regularly invited to participate in conservation education camps. This provides children living in and around REA’s plantations with an opportunity to spend time in the conservation reserves learning about the plants and animals that live there and the actions needed to conserve them. As an experiment, REA KON recently decided to extend the invitation to include senior high school students from one of the local villages. Although the students that attended enjoyed the weekend, the REA KON team concluded that the primary school children showed greater levels of enthusiasm and interest so it would not be effective to invite high school students to attend the Conservation Education Camps on a regular basis.
